Issued 10:00 AM AST 23 November 2024 Today Tonight and Sunday At 10:00 a.m. AST today deepening low 974 mb located south ofNova Scotia.
By 8:00 p.m. AST tonight low 971 mb located over Northumberland
Strait.
At 8:00 p.m. AST Sunday weakening low 985 mb located over the
eastern Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Marine Weather Statement
Issued 9:51 AM AST 23 November 2024 An intensifying low pressure system just south of Nova Scotia thismorning will move to lie over Northumberland Strait this evening.
The low will stall there tonight then drift slowly eastward on Sunday
as it gradually weakens. Gale to storm force easterlies ahead of the
low then shift to gale to storm force southwesterlies south of it.
Gale force northwesterlies are expected over western waters in the
wake of the low.
Marine interests are advised that storm warnings are in effect for
Georges Bank, West Scotian Slope, LaHave Bank, Sable, East Scotian
Slope, Cabot Strait, Northumberland Strait - eastern half,
Gulf-Magdalen, and Chaleur-Miscou - eastern half. Gale warnings are
in effect for all remaining waters.
Marine interests are advised that higher than normal water levels and
rough surf is expected along north and east facing coastlines of the
Gulf of St. Lawrence near the high tide this afternoon and evening.
Outlook for the start of the Southwest Nova lobster fishery.
Sunday..Winds northwesterly 35 knots. Seas 3 to 4 metres.
Monday..Winds northwesterly 25 to 30 knots diminishing to 15 to 20
late in the day. Seas 3 to 4 metres subsiding to 1 to 2 late in the
day.
Tuesday..Winds light in the morning increasing to southeast 20 in the
afternoon and southerly 25 to 30 by evening. Seas one metre building
to 2 to 3 by evening.
Wednesday..Winds westerly 20 to 25 knots in the morning increasing to
25 to 30 knots in the afternoon. Seas 1 metre or less increasing to 1
to 2 in the afternoon.
