WIND WARNING

Wind Warning in effect for:
  • Central Coast - coastal sections

Strong outflow winds. When: Today through Saturday. Where: Mainland valleys and inlets of the North and Central Coasts. Peak winds: Northeast outflow winds near 90 km/h. Remarks: A ridge of high pressure building over interior BC combined with a low pressure system approaching the BC coast will generate very strong outflow winds through mainland valleys and inlets. Northeasterly outflow winds are strengthening early this morning and will reach 90 km/h this morning. Strong outflow winds ranging from 70 to 90 km/h are expected to persist through tonight and Saturday. As the low weakens and moves offshore, outflow winds will gradually ease below wind warning criteria Saturday overnight. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
