The system is forecast to remain offshore over the next few days, with associated bands of precipitation pushing into the region today bringing bands of heavy snow. Near 15 cm of snow can be expected near the summit. Additionally, gusty easterly winds may create periodic blowing snow which will further reduce visibilities. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. The heaviest snowfall, which is expected to meet warning criteria, is expected today; snowfall is likely to continue until early Sunday afternoon when it will taper to a few flurries. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
