HIGHWAY 3 - PAULSON SUMMIT TO KOOTENAY PASS
SNOWFALL WARNING

Snowfall Warning in effect for:
  • Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass

Where: Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass. When: Friday early morning to Sunday. Remarks: Another fall storm is expected to affect BC beginning on Friday. The system is forecast to remain offshore over the next few days, with associated bands of precipitation mixing with moisture from the south, bringing 30 to 40 cm of snow into the road from Friday to Sunday. The heaviest snowfall, which is expected to meet warning criteria, will occur from Friday morning to Friday evening, though snowfall is likely to continue until Sunday early afternoon. Snow will then taper to a few flurries late afternoon. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. The site shiftintowinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
