  • Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta

Windy conditions are expected. When: Today and tonight. Where: Vancouver Island, Metro Vancouver southwest and southern sections of the Sunshine Coast. Remarks: Another fall storm is forecast to impact Vancouver Island and the B.C. south coast today. An area of low pressure off the Washington coast this morning is forecast to move northwards and approach Vancouver Island this afternoon. While this low is not as intense as the major storm that affected the area on Tuesday and Wednesday, and peak wind speeds are forecast to be generally lower, strong winds may still cause damage and disruptions, and slow down clean up efforts. There is some uncertainty on the forecast depth and the track of the low. A track closer to or across Vancouver Island will result in stronger winds. Wind warnings may be issued. -Strong winds may down trees or cause tree limbs to break. -Be prepared for power outages. -Travel delays are possible. -Secure loose outdoor objects. COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY - HOPE TO MERRITT
SNOWFALL WARNING

Snowfall Warning in effect for:
  • Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt

Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected. Where: Coquihalla Summit - Hope to Merritt. When: Today. Remarks: Another fall storm is expected to impact southern BC beginning today. The system is forecast to remain offshore over the next few days, with associated bands of precipitation pushing into the region today bringing bands of heavy snow. Near 15 cm of snow can be expected near the summit. Additionally, gusty easterly winds may create periodic blowing snow which will further reduce visibilities. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop. The site shiftintowinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
