Rain, at times heavy, is expected. What: 50 to 70 millimetres of rain near the coastline of the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula. When: through Sunday evening. Additional information: at times rain may locally be mixed with snow. Over higher terrain, precipitation will fall mainly as snow. Snowfall amounts near 10 centimetres are possible. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Be prepared for possible winter conditions at higher elevations. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Higher than normal water levels and large waves are expected near the coast this evening. The combination of - strong to high northeasterly winds - a major surge - and a period of medium tidal range could produce breaking sea conditions along the coast this evening in some areas of the Gaspé Peninsula tip. Additional information: A major low pressure system continues to intensify over the Maritimes. Buildings located in areas prone to storm surges could be flooded. Flooding is possible along the coastline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.
