FREEZING RAIN WARNING
Freezing rain expected tonight and possibly into Tuesday morning. Hazards: Freezing rain. Slippery roads and surfaces Power outages Timing: Late this evening into early Tuesday morning. Description: Freezing rain and some snow will develop tonight as a low pressure system approaches the lower Great Lakes. The freezing rain may be heavy at times overnight and will transition to rain or snow early Tuesday morning. Some ice accretion is possible on surfaces, possibly 2 to 4 millimetres of ice accretion. A few areas east of Georgian Bay and across Algonquin may see about 5 centimetres of snow accumulation late overnight into Tuesday morning. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Utility outages may occur. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
